In this book, Dr. Randrianasolo tells his story as an immigrant who was born in Madagascar, moved to St. Louis, Missouri at the age of seven, and struggled with his identity as a Malagasy and American person. Further, the author discusses his struggles in the context of social identity and self-verification. This book was written for immigrants who may be experiencing similar situations or friends of immigrants who may seek a better understanding of how social identities are formed.
